Dream-like, Serene, Enchanting

How do I begin? Smooth, winding roads with beautiful hills and glistening lakes: the Scottish Highlands were phenomenal.
Quite spontaneously, we ended up on the NC500 route – the smoothest roads I’ve driven on. When you have country music playing in the background, a pretty solid driver, and great company, what more could you possibly ask for?

The Jacobite train journey is definitely not overrated. Rumour has it that it is one of the most scenic railway routes in the world. Scenic it is. I even have pictures and videos to prove it. I almost felt like a wizard on my way to Hogwarts – if only that were true!

I never thought a place could channel beauty in silence (minus the cries of seagulls).
By the way, I have no idea where this was. We happened to take a wrong turn and ended up spotting a sign that said “Scenic route this way“. Sometimes, it’s good to get lost.
The Highlands have changed me, or was it something else?
Key Highlights:

- Glenfinnan Viaduct
- John o’Groats
- Inverness
- The North Coast 500 (NC500)
Top Tip: Book the Jacobite train tickets several months before – they sell out quickly.
